Nucleome Becomes India’s Only Platform-Agnostic Pure-Play Genomics Laboratory with Launch of Oxford Nanopore Ultra-Long-Read Sequencing

Company expands its multi-platform fleet with ONT P2I and P24 systems to deliver ultra-long-read sequencing and long-read sequencing solutions for rare disease and microbial genomics, serving global clients

Hyderabad, India – September 4, 2026 – Nucleome today announced the commencement of Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) sequencing operations on the PromethION 2 Isolator (P2I) and PromethION 24 (P24) platforms. The new capability delivers ultra-long-read sequencing and long-read sequencing (LRS) applications focused on rare disease diagnostics and microbial genomics, further strengthening Nucleome’s position as India’s only platform-agnostic pure-play genomics laboratory supporting international clients.

With this addition, Nucleome now operates a comprehensive suite of next-generation sequencing platforms spanning Oxford Nanopore, PacBio, Illumina, and Thermo Fisher systems. This multi-vendor, technology-agnostic infrastructure enables researchers and clinical partners to select the optimal sequencing chemistry and read-length profile for each project without being constrained by a single technology provider.

Over the past 14 years, Nucleome has supported more than 1,500 organizations across 26 countries. The company’s differentiated capabilities include advanced sample preparation, high-throughput laboratory automation, AI-driven data analysis pipelines, and integrated multiomics workflows that combine genomics with complementary molecular layers.

“Adding ONT ultra-long-read sequencing on the P2I and P24 platforms will allow us to address complex structural variation, haplotype phasing, and complete microbial genomes that short-read and even some long-read approaches cannot fully resolve,” said  Dushyant Singh Baghel, MD and CEO, Nucleome Informatics. “Combined with our existing PacBio, Illumina, and Thermo Fisher fleets, Nucleome offers true platform choice under one roof—an offering that remains unique among pure-play genomics service laboratories in India serving the international research and clinical community.”

The new ONT capacity is expected to accelerate projects in rare disease gene discovery, structural variant analysis, metagenomics, and high-resolution microbial strain characterization. Nucleome’s established expertise in sample preparation and automation ensures high-quality ultra-long reads, while its AI integration and multiomics infrastructure support end-to-end analysis and interpretation.
